This is correct. This is the present progressive (also called the present continuous) tense. This is also a compound predicate, two verbs with a single subject.

I'm in perfect agreement with Lewis. In addition, when you use the conjunction 'and' with a compound predicate the rule is to keep the before 'and' form of the verb the same as the after 'and' form. However, for stylistic variation when using a base form, present simple or past simple for the first verb in a compound predicate, you may change the second verb to a present participle. For instance: He ran into the room and shouted - past simple + past simple. Or: He ran into the room shouting - past simple + present participle.
