Theories of personality are explanations of how, the human-mind functions or shuts down. One’s motivations to do or not to do things and one’s behavior is predictable or not predictable. does this make sense. How would I improve this?

i think you should write like this: one can find the explanation on a functioning of human's mind in the variety of theories of personality types. They define people's way of thinking and thus help us to predict their actions and to understand their behaves.

Reworded to keep the sentence in parallel structure (each element of the list uses the same prepositions and verb tense).
