The use of need vs needs

I have a problem determining when to use need vs needs.  For example,

Sam from Quality asked to be included, so she can assess if a case also needs to be opened.

Thank you for your help!

'Needs' is correct in this sentence. 'Case' is singular and requires 'needs'.
