Sentence Correction


English Question.

Hi, can you please help me with a sentence.

1.(a) May the baby bring happiness.
1. (b) May the baby brings happiness.


Which sentence is correct and why? (or are both correct?)

Although 'baby' is singular and would normally take a singular verb (brings), using 'may' changes the verb to future tense. You should use the plural form, bring, in this use.

You may want to change 'the' to 'your' and add 'to you both' to make it more personal.


May your new baby bring happiness to you both.
