Need to know how to use this word correctly.

I wanted to use the word 'elephant ear' in my story which is the plant I was referring to and looked it up in word web which said it was spelt 'Elephant's ear'.

I asked how to use this on another site and was informed that it was actually 'elephants ear plant' and to refer to it as two or more, it would be 'elephants ears plants'. I don't know - that sounds wrong to me and would appreciate some help on the correct usage of the words. Singular and plural would be most appreciated.

I looked this up and found that the landscaping, gardening websites call it the Elephant Ear plant. To make that plural, you would only need to add an "s" to "plant". Some dropped the word "plant" and offered Elephant Ears at wholesale prices.
