Hi, In the sentence below, is "awarded" part of the helping verb"was?" So the verb in this sentence is "was awarded"?
Sentence: The soldier's bravery was awarded.

You are correct. This sentence is in passive voice which uses a form of the verb 'to be' along with the main verb to make the subject (bravery, in this case) receive the action of the verb. Written in active voice, this sentence could read:
The commander rewarded the soldier's bravery.
I had to introduce the performer of the action, commander, into the sentence. I also change 'awarded' to 'rewarded' as a better word choice.
