Passive voice use

How can I change this to active voice?

See example:

I will discuss how they were driven out of their lands, how their population significantly decreased and how they became slaves.

The key to using active voice is to make sure that the subject and the actor are the same noun.

'They' is the subject, but not the actor who is doing the 'driving out'.

Try:

"I will discuss how the merchants/colonial powers/etc. drove the Native Americans/Africans/etc. out of their lands, . . .".

Now 'merchants' is both subject and actor doing the driving out.
