Do i need a colon for this sentence

I am quite confused whether a colon is necessary after "such as" in this sentence . Thank you

See example:

When a person writes, he needs to ask himself questions relating to his writing such as: "Why are you writing?" or "What do you expect your readers to do?".

A colon is not necessary, and would be a mistake if used.  When using phrases such as such as, like, including, you do not need a colon.  The phrases themselves introduce an example or a list of examples so a colon would be redundant.
