I'm using it's, don't, the're often on my narrative story of my life with cancer over the last 2 yrs
gramarrly keeps telling me to change all of these to "it is" "they are" "do not" etc. can I use it's, don't in my informal writing of my life experience?

You can use these contractions in your informal writing. Consider setting your writing genre to 'casual' by selecting 'casual' from the drop-down menu that appears when you hover over 'Start review.'
