need help rewording the following sentence
"Cheese" was not the only factor that motivated living beings to spur further learning.

'To motivate' and 'to spur' mean the same thing, so your sentence is saying cheese motivated them to motivate them. I don't understand the quotes around cheese, either, unless cheese is a substitute word for something else. Living beings covers all animal life, and although my dogs certainly get motivated over a cheese snack, it doesn't means they are learning anything, except how to beg.
Cheese is not the only factor that motivated humans to learn.
