Is this sentence correct?


He shifted his eyes between the other people sitting there.

Instead of eyes, gaze is better.  I don't think you need to use other here, unless you mean to say that there was one or more people sitting there who he wasn't looking at, or avoiding looking at.


He shifted his gaze between the people sitting there.


Using the verb shift implies that his gaze moved back and forth between the various people, probably in a repetitive way.  If that is not what you mean to say, the sentence could be rewritten much more simply: He watched the people sitting there.
