rules for pronoun usage
What is the proper usage for the pronouns "me" and/or "myself" in prepositional phrases or as direct objects? Examples: "The prize was awarded to Joe, Mary, and myself." "My grandparents went to church with my wife and myself. " To me these both sound incorrect, should be "me" instead.

You are correct. Only use 'myself' or other reflexive pronouns when you have an antecedent for it.
