How wrong with this sentence?
What do I need to do the correct this sentence?
See example:
If the male infant, was weak at birth, he is tossed in a pit, to die.

You have two extra commas in this sentence and 'is' should be 'was' to agree with the tense in the introductory clause.
If the male infant was weak at birth, he was tossed in a pit to die.

I might suggest substituting 'would' for the 2nd 'was': If the male infant was weak at birth, he would be tossed in a pit to die.
